Using a Reward System with Dog Treats

Dog Treats
Dog treats are used to train your dog using positive reinforcement, which is really the best way to get your dog to behave or do something you want it to do. Hitting it won’t help, at all. It will just break your dog’s spirit or break the relationship between the two of you. What you should do is ensure that you are able to discipline your dog without pain or any type of harshness involved.

With high quality dog treats, such as the ones from Nylabone or Greenies, your dog will be happy to participate in training. A reward system will prove to be very tempting. During training, give your dog a bite when it displays the correct or expected behavior. As time goes by, it will get used to this pattern and so will easily respond to your repeated instructions. Before you know it, you will have a well-trained dog without even having to hire a professional pet trainer. The treats, somehow, can help you save some money while being able to achieve the right behavior.

Do remember that you are using the dog treats as part of a reward system. This means that you should use them for training purposes only. This way, you do not overindulge your pet with food items that could make them significantly gain weight. Some treats, especially those that come with very interesting flavors, can come with some hidden calories that you would not want your dog consuming all the time. Also, with constant treat doling, the reward system loses its effect and your dog gets “rewarded” at every turn, without much of a reason anymore.

With treats, you are able to go through a fun and delicious training without the unpleasantness. You may also end up with a healthy and obedient dog if you do it the right way.
